## About SofiLingo

SofiLingo is a translation app for iPhone, made for travel. Point your camera at a sign, talk with someone, or type a phrase, and read it in your language, with or without a signal.

Key features: scan menus, signs and shop labels and translate them instantly; translate live conversations as they happen; translate your speech and theirs; translate typed text; 58 common languages; offline translation; and no account needed, to protect your privacy.

Who it helps. Travellers can read a menu, a train timetable or a pharmacy label without hunting for wifi or paying roaming charges. Newcomers to a country can understand letters, forms and signs, and follow what is said at the doctor's, the school or the council office. Volunteers, carers and front-desk staff can talk face to face with people who don't share their language.

Scan: point the camera at a menu, sign or label and tap the text to translate it. Every scan is saved, so you can find it again later. Live conversations: put the phone on the table and read what the other person says in your language, a moment after they say it. Nothing is recorded. Speech: say a phrase and hear it spoken in their language, and they can reply the same way. Text: type a phrase and show your screen to the person you're talking to.

Offline: download languages over wifi and typed translation works with no signal in all 58. The camera reads 25 languages offline; in the others, the photo is kept and translated when you're back online.

Privacy: no account, sign-up or email address. Your typed text, translations and scans stay on your phone. A photo leaves your iPhone only to read a language it can't read itself, and only when you're online. iPhone, iOS 15.5 or later.
