SoloCalcKit is a free toolkit built for freelancers, independent professionals and small businesses who want practical business tools without unnecessary complexity.
I originally started SoloCalcKit around a simple idea: a lot of everyday business calculations should not require a spreadsheet, an expensive subscription or an account just to get an answer.
The site now brings together a growing collection of calculators, invoicing tools, PDF utilities, templates and practical guides in one place.
Freelancers can calculate hourly rates, project pricing, retainers, billable utilization and break-even rates. Small businesses can work with profit margins, markup, ROI, ROAS, pricing and other everyday financial calculations. Each calculator is designed to give a clear answer quickly while also explaining the numbers behind the result.
SoloCalcKit also includes tools for the invoicing workflow. Users can create invoices, estimates, receipts and proforma invoices, check invoice details and prepare payment reminders. The goal is to connect the calculation side of running a business with the actual work that comes afterwards.
I have also started building a library of practical guides around the questions people often have before using a calculator: how to calculate a freelance hourly rate, hourly versus project pricing, retainer pricing, markup versus margin, invoice payment terms, what an invoice should include and more.
A major focus of the project is keeping the experience simple. Many of the core tools can be used directly in the browser without creating an account, and the site is designed to get users from a question to a useful answer as quickly as possible.
Rather than trying to become another large accounting platform, SoloCalcKit focuses on smaller, specific problems that freelancers and small businesses deal with every day.
What you can use SoloCalcKit for:
• Freelance rate and pricing calculations
• Profit, margin, markup and break-even calculations
• ROI and ROAS calculations
• Estimates, invoices, receipts and proforma invoices
• Invoice checking and payment reminders
• PDF tools and Excel templates
• Practical freelance, pricing and invoicing guides
SoloCalcKit is still growing, and I am continuing to add tools based on real business tasks rather than adding features simply to make the product larger.
The aim is simple: useful business tools, clear answers and less friction.
