TidyText is a free, browser-based tool that helps you convert AI-generated Markdown into clean, properly formatted content for Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Gmail, and Outlook.
When you copy responses from AI assistants, formatting doesn't always transfer correctly. Headings may retain pound signs, bold text may display asterisks, and tables can turn into rows of pipe characters. TidyText helps solve this problem by converting supported Markdown into rich text that is easier to read, edit, and share.
The tool works with content from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, DeepSeek, and Grok. It supports headings, bold text, bullet and numbered lists, tables with borders, and code blocks. It can also convert LaTeX mathematical expressions into readable text, although complex equations may require minor manual adjustments.
Beyond formatting, TidyText removes hidden Unicode characters, including zero-width spaces, soft hyphens, and byte-order marks, and displays how many characters were removed. Additional options let users replace em dashes, remove emojis, links, or ChatGPT citation markers, and copy content as plain text.
